During a September 2008 trip to Williamsburg,
Virginia, I enjoyed creating several fabric postcards.
The fabric postcards are made out of a
sandwich of fabrics with a stiff fusible interface in the middle.
(Techniques include piecing / fusible web / decorative stitching.)
We toured the Powhatan Creek Plantation
while we were there and this plantation home was the inspiration for
the postcard on the right. Additional techniques for this
postcard included using perma pens and
watercolor pencils.
Below are the fabrics used to create the skull
postcards. These postcards were sent to Iraq to my nephew, Michael - a Marine Corps
Pilot - during his first deployment. |
